The Nursing

Serving humans being is also worship

Looking after and taking the care of the sick, the injured, the young, the old, or the helpless, with love and sympathy is known as Nursing. It is difficult to say at what point in history nursing was organized in a scientific way. Even. it is easy to understand that it must be as old as feelings of a man for his suffering fellow men. Only sympathy and love could move one human to feel sorry for someone in distress, to look after him in sickness, and try to do something for him and to restore him to health.

Islam regards nursing as very important. Our Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) used to visit the sick regularly spoke kind words, and comforted them. Even he would go to inquire about his ailing enemies. He urged his Muslim followers to help those people who were sick or suffering.

The Muslim ladies were very active on the battlefield giving water to the soldiers and tending the wounded, and the sick. Hazrat Ghifaria was a very good nurse, who accompanied
the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him in the Battle of Khyber; The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) presented a necklace to her when the battle was won.

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) established a hospital in Medina and placed it in the charge of a very competent nurse, Hazrat Rufaida by name. Among those who helped in looking after and nursing the patients in this hospital was Hazrat Fatima (may Allah be pleased with him), the youngest and the dearest daughter of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Asma, the daughter of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him).

In the beginning, Nursing was not popular at all. Parents did not agree to allow their daughters to become nurses. This can perhaps be the best show in the story of the girl, who in 1851 became the founder of modern nursing and one of the greatest women in history. Her name was Florence Nightingale.

Florence Nightingale was born in the town of Florence in Italy in 1820. Her parents were wealthy and cultured English people and expected her to marry a noble family.

But, she had other ideas. At 17, she felt that the aim of her life was to serve suffering humanity. When she was 24, she decided that she should become a nurse. “Nothing is nobler than nursing”, she declared. Her family was shocked to learn this.
Everybody opposed her. But she would not give in. at last, after 7 years of struggle; she was allowed to go training at the Kaiserswerth Institution of Nursing in Germany.

She was given the management of a small hospital in 1853, for sick women in London. When there was a war between England and Russia In 1854, the then, the British Government asked her to go to the Crimea to manage the military hospitals there. A great role was played by her in the Crimean war. The nation thankfully offered her a purse of £45,000. She founded an institution for training nurses w
ith this money, in London.

At present, there are many training institutes for nurses globally. A large number of girls nurses are there in so many countries. A large number of girls from good families, after being trained from these institutes are working in hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes.

The appearance of a nurse is of great importance in order to gain prestige in the eyes of the patient. The nurse should be an example to others in cleanliness and orderliness. It is very important that the clothes that conform to the established order are extremely clean. The nurse should wear a top-of-the-line white gown, slippers that allow for quiet walking, and slippers that can be easily disinfected. Gowns and rugs should be left in a special locker, it is strictly forbidden to take them home. Currently, different types of medical nurse clothing are allowed. The appearance of the nurse should have a calming effect on the patients. Patients treat a neat and humble nurse with great respect.

The subject of “Nursing” teaches the medical nurse the theoretical and practical guidelines for the treatment and care of patients, the rules of medical ethics, the prevention of disease, and the health of healthy people.

The theoretical part of this science explains the basics of ethics, manners, duties, rights, and responsibilities to future nurses, while the practical part — to behave directly in front of the patient, to perform medical procedures to help patients in difficult situations. Patients are mainly cared for by a medical nurse who may instruct a junior medical staff to perform some procedures.

Full organization of care, the creation of hygienic conditions for the patient, the implementation of all the instructions of the doctor, and the conduct of treatment procedures. involves tracking all changes in a patient's condition.

The care of patients in the polyclinic and at home is mainly performed by nurses. The responsibilities of the nurse in the care of patients: — to strictly follow the doctor's instructions to monitor the functions of all organs.

patient care is a treatment measure and the two concepts of “treatment” and “care” cannot be separated from each other because they are so interconnected that they complement each other and the healing of the patient.
